What is the difference between IP PBX system and traditional PBX?

The Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) is the traditional phone network. Traditional PBX systems are analog whereas VOIP PBX systems are digital. Digital systems have many advantages over analog, including the ability to transport voice and data transmissions over the same line . VoIP uses a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) over the same Internet path that you use to view web pages. VoIP goes far beyond traditional PBX to offer a variety of IP-based functionality, scalability and geographical coverage for increased business flexibility at affordable costs.

What is Club PBX?

Club pbx is communications company providing  robust, expandable and cost effective PBX solutions based on the Asterisk Telephony Platform. It integrates voice over IP( VoIP) to pre-existing analog telephone network with the benefits of IP technology. It is cost-effective, low-maintenance, and flexible enough to handle all voice and data networking.

Asterisk Telephony? What is this?

Asterisk is an open source telephony server that runs on Linux, BSD, and Windows & MacOS X operating system. You can also call Asterisk as a complete PBX in software. How does an IP phone save me money?

Currently your calls are routed through your local telephone company where you are charged a rate based on the destination of the call. By routing your call through the internet there are no costs per minute only the upfront hardware charges.

What is Voice-over-IP?

Voice-over-Internet-Protocol or Voice-over-IP or VoIP allows one to send a voice transmission via a network instead of the standard telephone infrastructure. Calls can be routed via the Internet, wide area network (WAN), or local area network (LAN).

ClubPBX allows you to create unlimited extensions on your system! Note, the heavier the load on the server the more RAM the server needs. 256MB is fine for 1-5 extensions, and 512MB is recommended for more than 5 extensions.

Do I need to have an Internet connection?

You only need an Internet connection to make changes to your ClubPBX, because that portion of the software is hosted on our servers. This means that your ClubPBX will operate normally (route calls, voicemail, etc.) when your Internet is down.
